Magnetronic DCC 4000 Battery control system
The DCC 4000 is a microprocessor controlled intelligent monitoring system,
developed by magnetronic with over 20 years experience in this field.
The DCC 4000 reads charge and discharge currents and calculates, taking account of a correction factor, the actual state of charge of the battery.
The state of charge is indicated in ampere-hours or percentages. Charge and discharge currents are easily recognized by arrows. The battery voltage can also be displayed. Continuous checks are carried out on the alternator, battery charger, solar panels and their various charge regulators.
Being aware of the actual current consumption adds greatly to safety and if necessary, a timely reduction in consumption can be decided upon. With auto-focus it is possible for the DC 4000 to measure very small currents in the range of 10 mA (Shunt type 2). This accuracy makes it possible to detect small leakage currents, which, with time, accumulate and not only will lead to a discharged battery but ultimately destroy it. Another possible consequence of leakage current is electrolysis which in time can cause major damage to other metal items e.g. skin fittings, propellers etc.
The LCD display is fitted with backlighting for night use. The Measured values are retained in the memory, even when the supply is switched off. An available option is the connection of relays, which can activate a switch function in for instance, low battery capacity, via an acoustic alarm etc. The function and its level is user programmable. The DCC 4000 is a valuable investment for today and the future, adding greatly to the safety of the vessel and its crew.
